A Teeny, Weeny, Laddy — David Llewellyn Green
This charming miniature for Voice and Piano was written on February 18th, 1954, when David Llewellyn Green was just nineteen years old. He wrote both the text and the music, creating a personal and affectionate cradle-song celebrating the arrival of a new-born child. Marked Lento in 6/8 time, the piano writing supports the vocal melody, allowing the vocal line to remain clear and expressive. The result is a miniature of touching simplicity and heartfelt warmth.
Why you’ll love it:
Charming cradle-song character – A tender and affectionate setting celebrating new life.
Expressive but accessible writing – Lyrical vocal line supported by the piano accompaniment.
Accessible engraving – 2 pages of music notation within a 5-page publication, clearly laid out for singer and pianist.
Lower-intermediate vocal level – Suitable for singers around UK Grade 2, with manageable range and expressive phrasing. Performance time is about 1 minute.
