David Llewellyn Green: 3 Liturgical Interludes for Organ (manuals only) (.PDF)
3 Liturgical Interludes for Organ — David Llewellyn Green
This graceful set by British composer David Llewellyn Green (1935–2014) presents three Interludes for manuals only, written for reflective use during worship. Each Interlude carries its own mood and colour while sharing Green’s hallmark lyricism and sensitivity of line.
Interlude I – Espressivo, flowing gently with expressive phrasing and quiet dignity.
Interlude II – More animated, marked by rhythmic motion and rich harmonies.
Interlude III – A contemplative Sarabande, using string stops to create a quiet, prayerful atmosphere.
Together, they form a set of three Interludes suited to be used for meditative moments within services, quiet recital Interludes, or teaching contexts.
Why you’ll love it:
Reflective character – Three short Interludes offering contrast in texture and mood, ideal for example between readings or during communion.
Manuals only – Perfect for smaller instruments or for organists without pedal technique.
Expressive colour – Registrations range from flutes 8′ and 4′ to Voix Céleste and Gamba 8′ for warm and intimate soundcolours.
Accessible engraving – 5 pages of music notation within a 8-page publication, neatly typeset and easy to read.
Lower-intermediate level – Suitable for organists around UK Grade 4–5; total performance time about 4–5 minutes.
